PESHAWAR: Asif Khan, a Member of the National Assembly (MNA) affiliated with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has registered a formal complaint against Malik Tariq Awan, a Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) from Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), for reportedly assaulting Khan’s servant in Peshawar.
According to the police, the complaint, known as a First Information Report (FIR), was filed on behalf of Asif’s servant, who is associated with the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC). The FIR accuses Awan of various charges, including terrorism, for allegedly forcefully entering Asif’s guest house with a group of 20 individuals and subjecting the victim to physical abuse.
“Based on MNA Asif’s complaint, we have apprehended five individuals who were mentioned in the report as being involved in the attack on his guest house,” stated the police.
However, Superintendent Police Faqeerabad Usama Amin Cheema said no incident of firing took place during all that episode. The SP said workers of both parties raised slogans against each other during the face-off.
Meanwhile, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly secretary called on Awan at his house to inquire about his well-being. The MPA apprised him that police did not come to Tariq Awan Qilla for a raid rather they had come to take his stance regarding the incident and to provide him security.
