Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former prime minister, announced on Friday his intention to pen a letter to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir. This correspondence, he emphasized, is not driven by personal motives but rather for the betterment of the nation.
He mentioned discussing the situation in Azad Jammu Kashmir and emphasized the importance of considering the country’s direction. He highlighted that there is no confrontation between the army and the people. While addressing the media at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, he expressed that when questioned, the beneficiaries of Form-47 resort to pressuring the judges and the media.
He further added that these beneficiaries are targeting Justice Babar Sattar and are striving to maintain an artificial democracy. Khan asserted that the Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa governments were dissolved to avoid influence from intelligence agencies. He raised questions about the government’s legitimacy following the former interim PM’s statement and mentioned a message sent to Shehbaz Sharif by Anwaarul Haq Kakar, taunting Hanif Abbasi.
Imran Khan praised Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa’s courage and questioned the delay in hearing PTI’s petitions regarding the May 9 events and the February 8 elections. He expressed a desire for a fair trial similar to those of Nawaz Sharif, Asif Ali Zardari, and Yousaf Raza Gilani. Khan expressed disappointment that his Supreme Court appearance was not broadcast live and hoped for live coverage in his next appearance.
The ex-prime minister mentioned that in case PTI senior leaders Pervaiz Elahi and Shah Mahmood Qureshi decide to leave the party today, they will be set free. Regarding talks with the government, Imran stated that it is pointless to negotiate with individuals who lack authority.
In response to inquiries about his wife Bushra Bibi’s medical examination, Khan expressed his lack of confidence in the reports from PIMS hospital. “We proposed having two blood samples taken, one for PIMS and one for Shaukat Khanum. I have no faith in PIMS reports. They once falsely claimed my blood contained cocaine. I took legal action against them for that.”
“Bushra Bibi also requested samples to be sent to both laboratories. However, the medical personnel declined, leading her to withhold her samples.” Khan reiterated his intention to correspond with the army chief. “The lawyers are in the process of drafting the letter,” he concluded.
