Jeremy Renner made a comeback to the set of Mayor of Kingstown after enduring a harrowing snowplow accident that resulted in multiple severe injuries. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, the Hawkeye actor revealed that he was treated with utmost care, akin to a child actor, upon his return.
To ensure Renner’s participation, co-creator Hugh Dillion sought permission from his mother. Once on set, Renner’s filming schedule and overall routine were adjusted to aid in his recovery. Recognizing the need for a balanced approach, the producers made necessary modifications to accommodate Renner’s requirements. This included allowing him to stretch and exercise on set, even during breaks between takes.
Additionally, Renner chose to stay in Pittsburgh for the majority of the four-month production to avoid the physical strain of jetlag. Given his extensive injuries, it was crucial to prioritize his well-being.
Renner humorously remarked that he now had to be treated like a child actor, playfully comparing himself to a 14-year-old. This lighthearted comment highlights the level of care and attention he received from the production team.
It is worth noting that Renner’s accident on January 1, 2023, resulted in 38 broken bones, a collapsed lung, and significant chest trauma. Despite these challenges, his determination and the support of the production crew allowed him to return to the set of Mayor of Kingstown.
