In this tutorial I am going to explain how to design or modify the front page of ‘Motif Theme’ of wordpress.com. Motif Theme is one of the attractive, dynamic and free themes in WordPress.com but many people get confused how to edit it. So with this tutorial you would learn to apply and edit the front page.Motif Theme Demo– Visit Website
Step 1: First go to Dashboard<<Appearance<<Theme and Apply the ‘Motif Theme’.
Step 2: Now make a ‘New Page’ name it say ‘Welcome’. Type something about the page (Optimum 100 words). Now select ‘Page Attribute’ at the right hand side according to the image below. Set Template ‘Front Page’ and set a ‘Featured Image’ either from your Media Library or you can paste a url. Please note that Image size should be at least 1200 * 1000. Save this page.
Step 3: Go to Dashboard<<Settings<<Reading. Choose a static page and choose ‘Welcome’ from the drop down menu. Save these settings. You can visit your website and check the changes.
Step 4: To add text box below the Featured image you need to edit widget in your website. We will go through editing widgets now. Go to Settings<<Appearance<<Widgets. You would see 2 sidebar options. Please refer below image. You can drag ‘Text’ widget in both sidebars according to the image below and can edit text. You can use CSS also.
Note: You can add anything from widgets. Like Recent Post, Comment etc. Save the text and see you page.
Step 5: Now you want to add ‘Testimonial’ to this Motif WordPress Theme. It is very easy. Please go to dashboard and go to Testimonial. You can add as many as you want. The theme would select 2 randomly. You can add image also. Remember to resize the image first. Keep the size 120*150 or you can adjust by yourself. Add Caption and Give a caption and select Left/Right alignment. Follow the below image. Add 2-3 testimonials and publish this. Now check your website.
Step 6: You can edit footer as well. Go to Appearance<<Widgets. Check ‘Main Sidebar’. There are many options already. You can delete one by one, which you do not want at the footer.
