Raoof Hasan, the Information Secretary of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), contradicted the statements made by the ISPR DG about the presence of a strong democracy in Pakistan. He asserted that instead of a robust democracy, the country is being governed by a personal dictatorship.
Raoof emphasized that democracy is non-existent in the country, stating that the PTI is willing to cooperate with a judicial commission to investigate the 2014 sit-in. However, he also called for an investigation into various other issues such as regime change, cipher problem, attack on Imran Khan, audio leaks, mandate theft, forced divorces, and political engineering during the February 8 elections. Raoof requested evidence to substantiate the allegations of PTI’s involvement in the May 9 riots.
Raoof highlighted that not a single flowerpot was damaged by the massive PTI crowd, asserting that the party’s founder chairman is unjustly imprisoned in Adiala. The PTI spokesperson emphasized that the party’s founder has always respected the army, stating “the army is mine, these soldiers are also mine.” The spokesperson also refuted claims that only seven percent of voters supported PTI.
Senior lawyer Intazar Panjotha mentioned that Imran Khan had called for a commission on May 9 to determine who authorized his detention by the Islamabad High Court, and also demanded an investigation into the wheat import scandal.
