Pakistan secured a 2-1 win in the T20 series against Ireland at Clontarf. Babar Azam played exceptionally well, scoring 75 runs. Ireland set a target of 178-7, with Lorcan Tucker (73) and Andrew Balbirnie (35) contributing significantly.
However, a partnership of 139 runs between Babar and Muhammad Rizwan helped Pakistan reach the target of 181-4 with three overs to spare. Pakistan had lost the first match but bounced back to level the series. They chose to bowl first and quickly dismissed Ross Adair. Stand-in captain Tucker played a brilliant innings of 73 runs, while Balbirnie hit three sixes. Shaheen Afridi took 3-14, and Pakistan comfortably achieved the victory target. Babar’s outstanding performance included hitting four sixes in a single over by Ben White.
Mark Adair was the standout bowler for Ireland with figures of 3-28. The two teams will face each other again in the group stage of the upcoming T20 World Cup next month.
