Star Token by Bank of India is a user interference to access bank account and do transactions securely. It is just an interference which enables us to access bank of India website but with lot of you know geek word security to protect your bank account. People are complaining again and again about Star Token. Actually it does not open when you have installed Windows 8 or 8.1 or updated your internet explorer. You can only login to your star token and verify any transaction that’s it. You could not check your account or could not make transfer.
Now Bank of India has brought the solution. They have updated their Star Token. Now you can run star token easily on your Windows 8 system or with an updated internet explorer. Follow the bullets to make it happen. You can read the PDF for more information. Download PDF.
Bullet 1: Uninstall the old Star Token.
Bullet 2: Visit Bank of India website and click on “Retail view demo” as shown in the image.
Bullet 3: Now login in and click that you don’t have star token in the system.
Bullet 4: Download the updated star token and install.
Bullet 5: Enter proxy address if any and you are done.
If it still does not help then install IE 10. It is working fine in my PC. I am using IE 10 and Star Token is also running smoothly.

Are you surfing internet under some proxy? Because if you are putting userid and pass correctly might be internet is not working properly. In case of star token you need to put proxy setting separately. Plz check it once.
** But I think you should check your userid and pass once again. You can change/recover your login pass as well.

As many of us approaching you & you are giving solutions , but as account holder we should take out our frustration on Bank.
this App is not allowing to enter, I visited branch they are also not able to give fruitful solution, but hiding behind curtains and trying to show some non compliance at our end which is not relevant to this (funny reason given -“you haven’t linked Adhar hence your account might have blocked”, but they are not aware that limit to Adhar linking is till Dec 17)
Non of them including Br. Manager know about it & they do not give IT dept details to contact.
Once you have enabled start token, you can not use normal Portal for transaction.
So pl.help if you have BOI IT dept or Grivanances contact details where we can take up such case.

Except from your userid and password it should not ask anything. If anything in particular, please tell about it to branch manager. Also I am not associated with BOI so can’t guess what it is exactly.

I can understand your frustration. If you once activate STAR TOKEN, you would have to continue with it until and unless you deactivate it. So go to Bank Branch and asked them to deactivate your Star token. Simply tell them that your browser or proxy doesn’t support it and you want to open your internet banking on Mozilla/Browser only. You don’t need Star Token. May be they can help. I really don’t understand why BOI is doing this with their customers. Sorry buddy.

I am having Saving account with BOI, **************** – GUJARAT branch, opened for personal purpose. This bank introduced STAR TOKEN, when i asked about this to branch, they told me use STAR TOKEN, which provides more Security. Then i used it and know that this is one of the worst kind of internet service, which frequently blocked without any reason. After that, i have approached the branch serveral times [almost 6 months] personally to unblock STAR TOKEN, nothing happens. telling (User/Device Status check failed – Too many failed additional authntication attempts).And for that I give appliction for regenerate my user id , n password n i will did twice time regeneration process …But same problem showing , and the branch as well as customer care are not able to solve this problem. ….Just frusted…

If you are using Star Token on machine which is under Firewall control, star token will not work.
Normally all organization have their own firewall security, hence this so called military grade secured app will not work.
Try on your personal machine without firewall or mobile this app may work.

In my mobile star Token was opening until last week. But suddenly one day stopped working. In first page I am putting used I’d and pin and it is showing successfully registered but not going upto second page where I have to put password. A circle is roaming in middle continuously. Waiting for a suitable solution as I am exhausted trying all methods. No antivirus present in my mobile which may block it neither it is blacklisted by security app. These vague probabilies were suggested by customer service when they couldn’t find actual error. Still after 10 days they are replying same answer alternatively in mail although I have written them to read the whole conversation but they are not doing it. Hope I can get a solution from here.

I would suggest you to consult your bank manager. It’s not a big issue. Their internet banking and token app suck. Please ask branch manager to fix the issue or you can switch to another bank.

Hi Deepesh, Thanks for taking this initiative. This problem has occurred since last six months only, prior to that I used StarToken for more than 2 years (old version) and there were no issues at all. Suddenly they upgraded the StarToken version and everyone started facing this issue. Almost 90% of users are getting error in the very first click saying “Failed to connect to Server. Please check your internet settings” however all other internet related applications on the PC are working normal. I think Bank of India should forward this issue to their IT- App Development Department but not sure why are they taking so long. Recently they have declared a net loss worth more than 7k crores. If they continue such a pathetic customer service then sooner or later their existence will be in danger.

Just like many of the posts here, I too desperately needed to use the Bank Of India Web site for making payments or even just checking my accounts. I spoke to the branch manager and he said “NEVER USE STAR TOKEN” –
BUT BOI did some upgrade to their systems in ( DEC 2015) which enabled Star Token for me and I was never able to use the Online system. The Bank manager reset my account to not use Star Token and now I can connect without a problem.
HOWEVER. I do not use a proxy server from home so I do not have any proxy settings I need to add anywhere. When I click the retail button on the Bank of India site it never connects when I am at home. When I am at work it works fine “ALWAYS” – so I use a VPN ( Connect to work from home ) and then I can access the BOI web site without any problems. I have not tried to use a paid VPN service, so I would love to hear from anyone who does use a paid / free VPN service if they have the same success in connecting to the BOI Retail ( user Login screen ).
An update. After I installed a VPN service ( Tunnelbear ) a free addon extension on Google Chrome, I am able to connect to Bank Of India Retail without any problems. I hope this information helps others who are having the same problem.

Shot 1 says Uninstal Star Token but how It does not say anywhere. Deleting does not work as Unistal. For reinstalation of Star Token big articles and Slides show will not help the customer. BOI is just exploiting its customers. Bank with such poor service should be closed

Thanks for your kind words. Can you please confirm that OS and IE version on both laptops are same? IE above 9 (if I remember correctly) and Win 8+ give problem to log in.

I think aapko Star Token install karna hi padega. Yes pe click karne pe wo installed Star Token kholta hai but No pe click karne pe download page pe le jata hai. Agar aapke system me Star token ni hai to aap pahle ek bar install karke use activate kare. Fir aap shayad use kar payenge.

Previously before 2 years i was using star token in my laptop but once i’ve formatted the laptop and then i tried many times to install…..but error message coming every time…..”Your system does not permits these types of installing”.

We have three accounts in Bank Of India from long time since star token is introduced we are facing lots of problem to login we feed correct user id otp password then it ask answer of secret question this pathetic we feed otp then asking answer of question is non sense. well after feed correct answer it again said three attempt left after three attempt it lock the account. they should give chance to reset our password and answer after correct OTP. We are very upset and home branch is very far from our place. Going there again and again very tough job.

I am also facing similar issues. I contact branch manager. however, they are also not able to solve my login issue. I have closed my account with BOI and open an account with SBI. Good service from SBI.

I have got 6 accounts with BOI all linked with Star Token since last many years (May be when Star Token was launched). Since November last year facing problem with one account.
I was a very happy Star Token user till the time problem starts. (The same Too many failed additional authentication attempt.. and later BOI website says wrong user name / psw for a fresh / reset password received one day back)
All the other family accounts are working perfectly OK on more than one machines (Two mobiles, Tab, Desktop)
Regarding my problem (Which is unsolved till date) I received following communication from Star token IT team. See if it helps.
Ques 1. Why the error “Too many failed additional authentication attempts” occurred?
Answer. Error – “Too many failed additional authentication attempts” occur because Customer either did not remember the answer of the Security Question set by him/her previously or he/she had entered the wrong Activation code while setting the Star-Token on a new Device (i.e. Mobile, PC, Laptop etc.).
Ques 2. What is the solution of the problem if Customer is able to Login successfully in Star-Token from any other device (i.e. Mobile, Laptop, PC etc.)?
Answer. Customer should be advised to login into Star-Token from the device where Star-Token is working and then set the new Security Question and its answer by clicking on Change Secret button and then select “Secret Question & Answer”. Please see the below screenshot for your reference.
Once the Security Question and its answer is changed, the error – “Too many failed additional authentication attempts” will be removed and Customer can login into Star-Token from the Device where error occurred by answering the Security Question recently set by him/her. Mobile No. must be registered in order to receive the Activation Code/Verification Key.
Ques 3. What is the solution of the problem if Customer is not able to Login successfully in Star-Token from any other device (i.e. Mobile, Laptop, PC etc.)?
Answer. If Customer is unable to login into Star-Token from any device, then branch should reset the Star-Token of the Customer using STCON -> 4 in Finacle. Customer will be able to use the Star-Token again from the next working day when status in IBSTATUS->2 changed from ‘Active’ to ‘Reset’.
