Today I am writing on “How to configure your Windows8 Phone internet settings behind College Proxy Wall” or “How to connect to internet under college proxy in your Windows 8 Phones″. Internet Settings in “Lumia 920, Lumia820, Lumia720, Lumia520, Lumia1042, Lumia925,HTC”Many of my friends have got Windows 8 phones. Phone is great but without internet smartphones are dead. They are just like budget phones except games. So internet is must. And you will regret more if you are in college and have proxy settings in your college. In laptop you can connect to internet through proxy setting and LDAP ID and password but there is no such facility in Windows 8 Phone. So I am bringing here a solution. How to Make Wi Fi HotSpot on Laptop to share internet
Step 1: Install CC Proxy and do the necessary setting. If you are running Window 8 on your PC then Visit here. Otherwise just install and open CC Proxy. Go to Option< Advanced< Cascading and do the setting.

Download CC Proxy
Change your ‘Internet Settings’ also. Go to Control Panel<<Internet Options<<Connections<<Lan Settings. Insert your PC IP Address and Port 808 (Taken from CCProxy).
Step 2: Check if CC Proxy is working fine or not. When you open your CC Proxy, you will find graph.
Step 3: Now make an access point in your PC. It is not necessary if you have Wi-Fi in your college. Just switch on your Phone’s wifi and connect to the server. How to Make Wi Fi HotSpot on Laptop to share internet
Step 4: Let me clarify that my PC is connected through LAN wire which is having an ip say 192.168.64.145 but I am connecting my phone with college wifi which gives ip 192.168.67.121. It will not affect your settings. Ok.
Step 5: So you have connected to wifi it will automitacally take some IP, subnet mask and gateway. Let it take. Switch on ‘Proxy’.

Step 6: Here give your PC ip (say 192.168.64.145) and port as your CC Proxy like I have port 808 in my CC Proxy. You too will have the same port.
Step 7: Save the setting. Here we go. Now connect to the internet. Cheers !

WP8 doesnot support ad-hoc networks which is how one can setup a virtual access point in Windows 8. So this solution is valid only for college wi-fi,
what about windows store, music store and any other app using internet like whatsapp. Will it work on these too?
Dude, College Proxy allows everything in Win8 Phone but does not work in Android. We use Nokia Music Store, Skype etc thru college proxy in Lumia 820. Follow above instruction and try urself.

Plz check the Network Icon. It should not be Yellow sign. Rest in my phone all works fine. 🙂
after step 2 being completed ………….. as i have done settings(ccproxy) on my laptop connected to LAN ……… how to use that internet on phone……. do we have to make hotspot now …………i tried making hotspot sharing the pc lan but now internet explorer on phone has also stopped working …… becoz earlier only microsoft related things didnt work when directly sharing lan network via hotspot

finally, Hostel internet problem is solved.
I have another problem, Here in IIT Guwahati there is institute wifi in library and academic complex,how to get access to it on windows phone? In laptop we r able to acces by configuring manually TKIP and microsoft TTLS setting n all. Is there any way to get acces in windows phone by using VPN feature or any other means?

Hello sir, I am from IIT Kharagpur. We use proxy network here. Apps like WhatsApp doesn’t work on windows phone. Please suggest the VPN metod to run such apps behind proxy.

I followed the solution but it didn’t solve the main problem. Still i can’t use WhatsApp with college proxy network. I don’t find any difference in using this method.

In my case Watsapp and Skype were running. I’m sorry but right now I don’t have either proxy server or Windows phone, so I can’t test it. Sorry.

ccproxy doesnt show any graph ?? and where to connect my phone, to college wifi .. or the pc’s hotspot??
There must be some yellow sign over your network icon.
-connect to your laptop wifi using your pc ip and cc proxy port.
Let me know if you have any other doubt.
Man, I could connect to the internet though the Wifi signal says ‘No internet access’ on my phone. But apps like WhatsApp, MSN Money, News Sports is working.

Hey I simply put in my college proxy and port details..and I can access browser and store..i.e the inbuilt apps..but apps like WhatsApp etc..cannot access net..please suggest a solution to that…the android people have drony for that..do we hv smthin lik it!?

Plz check above comments. We were able to access all apps in Windows phone. I tired personally. Now I am out of college so can’t response properly. Whatsapp was not working in android, I agree and we didn’t find any solution.
